Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Tracing
This tool adds a significant burden to RPC traffic while it is running.
Do not leave RPC diagnostics running.
Use Trace VTScada Actions for TraceRPC only to check for connection maintenance issues.
When RPC Diagnostics have been selected as the live capture data source, the toolbar will change to show three new buttons
From left to right, these are:
- Settings button.
Opens the settings dialog, where you can set parameters that will affect the behavior of RPC traces. - Services button
Opens the Services dialog, which displays the current services and their state including which workstation is currently the server for that service. - Sockets button
Opens the Inter-machine Sockets dialog, which displays the MachineNodes and their subordinate SocketNodes.
Interpreting RPC Diagnostics Data
The Trace Viewer performs the following translations and filters for RPC Diagnostics:
- IPs are translated to names where possible
- GUIDs are translated to application names
- Filtering can be done by IP/name, AppGUID, Service, trace point in RPC, or data content.
